Hednesford 6th May Spectator Parking Information
The May Day Bank Holiday event takes place at Hednesford Hills Raceway on Monday 6th May 2024 at 1pm.
Please find below details which will help everyone with parking for the event:-
• Please do NOT go to the raceway on Sunday or park overnight outside the venue.
• The approach road will open at 9.30am to competitors and spectators. Please do NOT arrive before this time. Security WILL turn you away from the crossroad on the approach to the raceway.
• Stadium gates will open at 10am.
• Inside parking for the event is allocated on a first come, first serve basis and is chargeable at £10 per vehicle.
• Parking is available on the common outside the raceway as usual.
• For this event two additional parking sites have been secured for use away from the raceway for race fans to park free of charge.
• Details for each site are as follows:-
o Kingsmead School, Kings Avenue, Hednesford, WS12 1DH
o Hednesford Town Football Club, Keys Park Road, Hednesford, WS12 2DZ
• Security will be located at these sites.
• A free Park & Ride scheme will also operate from Hednesford Town Football Club and Kingsmead School sites to bring race fans to the event and also return you to the car parks afterwards.
• The additional car parks will open at 11am. The park and ride will also be available from this time supplied by P&D York Travel and our thanks go to them for their help with this event. If you are not planning to stay for the whole event we would recommend using these additional parking sites to avoid the queues at the raceway later on.
• Once the raceway car parks are full, please park at one of the above sites. DO NOT PARK ON THE LOCAL ROADS! Race fans parking on the local roads with no consideration to the local residents has caused serious issues for the raceway in the past and we have worked to build a positive relationship with the local community and do not need this to be put into jeopardy by people not respecting the local area. We have worked with Hednesford Town FC and Kingsmead School to provide additional parking facilities previously with huge success and we would like to thank them for their continued support towards the raceway.
• Do NOT park in the no parking cone areas or any area which may result in causing issues for the local residents.
• Council Traffic Wardens will be patrolling the local roads surrounding the raceway and any cars parked irresponsibly will be subject to the appropriate action required.
• Finally, please can we ask everyone to park considerably and please do not park where you may inconvenience others or risk the future of the raceway.

Bangers - Gold Rush
It’s the next instalment of the Gold Rush, with the series heading to the Midlands with almost 100 cars booked in to race for just 1 World Final slot! Watch as these MOT failures roar around the track, with the 1600cc powered cars always providing great entertainment.
Caravan Oval Destruction Derby
A Hednesford favourite - there goes the kitchen sink! If you’ve ever been stuck behind a caravan on a long drive, this one is for you. Watch as these mobile homes are destroyed in front of you - with daredevil Banger drivers taking to the circuit towing the caravans. Thousands of people have seen these events in the past, with more family entertainment coming to the much-loved venue again this Bank Holiday Monday.
Stock Rods - Midland Championship
The 2024 Midland Championship is the order of the day for the Stock Rods, with the non-contact class out in force. Last year the title was decided on a wet circuit at Hednesford with #212 John Smith using his experience to be victorious. Smith recently won the 2024 English Championship at Ipswich, but it will be a tall order with plenty of the formula’s big names set to race this May Day.
Watch out for #447 Stuart Smyth, #168 Andy Sturt, local hero #197 Max Bradburn and many more in this competitive class.
2.0 Hot Rods
Completing the lineup are the 2.0 Hot Rods, who always provide high-speed action at the home of Hot Rod racing. These hatchbacks are renowned for their wheelarch-to-wheelarch racing, with plenty of skill needed for the more experienced drivers to battle their way to the front of the field.
All in all, it’s a day not to be missed. If you’ve never been to the Raceway before then this is the ideal chance to come and get hooked on the thrill of oval motorsport. The venue has two large covered grandstands as well as huge grass banks if you’d prefer to bring your own chair as well as bar/catering facilities. Don’t forget to visit the Gamble Motorsport Track Shop in front of the West Bend grandstand.
First green flag goes at 1pm: arrive early to avoid missing a thing so you can experience a full day of Hot Rod and Banger racing - there’s nothing better to do on a Bank Holiday Weekend!
