Massive congratulations to Steve Shaw on retaining the gold roof by winning the World Wide Rebellion at NIR on Firday 9th September.
Sounds good doesn't it?, but no words can really explain how the race unfolded and rose to one of the most dramatic climaxes seen for years on any oval race track.
Rebels chief Hans Kirrima commented shortly after the race - 'That was the best World Rebellion ever' and then added 'perhaps the best Rebel race ever' That was a great accolade to all drivers concerned as Hans strives for perfection. and for once, we believe he got it!
Five cars battled constantly for the lead in an absolutely superb display of stock car racing, polesitter Adam Joyce dropping back allowing 1 Steve Shaw to retain the title and become the first driver to win the WWR on both tarmac and shale. Steve took the title by less than 1/2 car length, having rode a last bend challenge, out dragging 2nd placeman 2 Tony McCarthy to the line. 81 Lyndon Rushby completed the podium, 470 David Vaughan was fourth and James Joyce a pulsating 5th. Any one of those five drivers could have won the title in the last few laps - and if you dont believe it, then buy the video - you wont be disappointed!
An absolute stunning race for everyone to see and congratulations must go to all of the drivers who took part in the race and indeed the Rebels organisers and officials, who all played their own part in the best Rebellion ever!
Well done Steve Steve and congratulations from all at Incarace.
