The final result of the 2011 Stock Rod National Championship held at Hednesford Hills Raceway, still hangs in the balance after further developments at the weekend.
When the initial result was declared following the conclusion of the race, first past the post Micky McFall from Northern Ireland was declared the winner, with a disgruntled Andy Sturt 2nd and Jonathan Latkka 3rd (elevated from 5th position, following the docking of both Stuart Wright (yellow flag infringement) and Davy Philip (contact).
Following a post race protest from Andy Sturt to the Steward of the Meeting on the day, the result was amended with Micky McFall handed a 2 place docking for contact on the 168 car, from which he gained the lead of the race, following the re-start after the multi-car collision.
Micky took the decision gracefully, but upon reflection decided to exercise his right to appeal the protest result and duly file his appeal to the ORCi.
That appeal was heard at the Stock Rod World final day at Hednesford, with an appeal panel of independent drivers from different nationalities and they decided that Micky’s appeal should be upheld and that the result should be re-instated as originally declared.
It is understood that Andy Sturt, now wishes to exercise his final right to appeal that overturned decision and whilst this potential appeal is in process, the final result of the Stock Rod National cannot be confirmed.
