Message from Michael Coventry:
It is with the deepest of regret that I have to inform you all that Iain, known to many of you as The Steamer, was found dead late last night.
I'm sure many of you will have your own memories of Iain, I hope that in time we may come to share some of them.
His contributions to the sport of banger racing were unlike anyone elses. He had a unique gift which he shared with a sport he loved so passionately for the majority of his life and his gift was a wonderful contribution which will never be forgotten and is unlikely to be matched.
I'm sure the entire banger racing community will join me in extending our deepest sympathies to his family and friends and in particular his wife for over 15 years, Sarita. I hope they can find some comfort in the knowledge that his life touched and enhanced so many of ours in so many different ways.
If it's true that there is a race track in the sky then the drivers in action now have someone hopefully to report on it now.
Our heartfelt thanks as well to everyone for their kind comments and thoughts elsewhere in the last few hours
Rest easy mate
Michael Coventry MC!
All at Spedeworth and Incarace would like to add our sincere condolences to Iain's wife, Sarita, and all his family and many, many friends at this deeply sad time.
