Foxhall Stadium Meeting Report - 6/8/11 - Added 9/8/11

Despite having their British Championship at Yarmouth the following evening, the 1300cc Stock Cars were destructively lively at Foxhall on Saturday night with all four white grade drivers coming to grief spectacularly as they crossed the start line for the very start of race one and peeling the armco off the wall in the process writes Kevin Wegg.
Debutant Josh Fuller pulled off an impressive win in the Clark Wells rent-a-stockie and the hirer made it a notable one-two when passing Joe Palmer for second with just two laps to go. Race leader Trevor Canfield put himself away in heat two to let in Fuller for another comfortable victory but the odds on him completing a hat-trick increased considerably with promotion to the blue grade for the final. This was a thrilling affair with a closed grid and blistering action right down the field with Jason Nicholls determinedly successful to scupper Fuller’s plans. Lee Pearce was an entertaining man-on-a-mission hitting anything that moved including English champion Jason Scopes. Canfield had already been on the receiving in both heats and completed an unwanted hat-trick with a bone-jarring crunch involving Luke Morphey which left them stranded across the track. From the restart leader Palmer sensationally pulled out with Mark Bloss taking it up and looking comfortable as Pete Beldom had a battle royal with Richard Hampshire for second which the latter almost reclaimed with a ‘last-bender’ only to miss and allow Adam O’Dell to sneak in for a well-deserved third having had engine problems all night.
Derek Spall was again in winning form as he took the opening Banger heat co-incidentally in the same car he used the previous week to gain exactly the same result! Ross Heppell was the first of two cars to role in race two as he landed on his roof however the complete roll-over by James Bailey courtesy of an assist by Adam James was well up to Olympic standard for artistic impression and degree of difficult. Simon Rose looked particularly quick when taking the win but was out of luck in the final which featured an exciting three-abreast dice for the lead at one point. Daniel Harvey and Steen Rozier were left to battle it out until a clash with backmarkers left Harvey in the fence and Rozier was another visitor to it as Paul Felgate shot through to snatch victory on an exhilarating last lap.
Gary Ellis was a stunning one-man sideshow in the visiting V8-powered European Late Modifieds with another blistering display of outside passing at it’s very best as he comfortably claimed both heats from the back of the field. He would almost certainly have made it a hat-trick had it not been for the one lap handicap he received in the final but even then as the cars crossed the finish line he was right behind the leading two cars. Vincent Lehock was the excited winner having missed heat one with car problems and deserved his success with a polished drive. He was probably glad he had missed out mind as it also featured the customary thundering t-bone smash from these supposedly non-contact monsters as race leader Kieran Dynes drifted wide and spun right in front of the unfortunate Thomas Durkin.
