Les was a showman, innovator, and a true gentleman.
Stock Car Racing had unfortunately gained a bad reputation and low public esteem in the late 1950s/ early 1960s, but Les and Mavis quickly developed their own style of promoting, and set an industry standard which many have tried to copy, but never bettered. Les would not suffer fools gladly, but was a kind generous man, loyal to his family and countless friends, of which I am proud to have been one. |
