Dating back to their origins in 1968, Saloon Stock Cars serve up classic UK style Stock Car racing, with heavily ironed up cars doing battle on the nation's short oval racing circuits, often resulting in spectacular heavy weight clashes.
Powered by 2 litre Ford engines, the cars are Ford Sierra based, although in recent times, the rules have been opened out to include Ford Mondeo and Vauxhall Vectra body shells.
Over 130 drivers are registered across the UK from the north of Scotland to Essex in the south east and Cornwall and Devon in the south west.
In 2011, the annual Good Friday fixture at Northampton will include the season's one and only visit by the Saloon Stock Cars. This is one of the most memorable formulas on the UK ovals and instantly capture the imagination.
