Oval Track Legends
Saturday night is Race Night - which can mean there can be only one place for the Family to go ....Foxhall Heath Stadium, Ipswich for another action packed race meeting in the ‘Foxhall Bowl’.
This coming Saturday night, 12th June, Spedeworth Motorsports proudly presents (with strict COVID – 19 measures in place) a superb triple helping of top class Oval action featuring the Lightning Rods competing for their 2021 English Championship, Oval Track Legends competing for their 2021 East Anglian Championship and the Whip Street Motors Bangers as everyone heads into town to compete and savour a night at Foxhall Stadium once more!
The Lightning Rods bring with them some experienced and talented Drivers in the form of Mike Daniels, Andy King, Jason Gibbs and Jason Thompson on a track where these big saloons can ‘stretch their legs’ to use all their available power for some good old ‘door – rubbin’ action!
The Oval Track Legends have certainly become one of THE Formulas to watch in recent years. Fast competitive racing coupled with side by side fender to fender racing action makes them a true spectacle to watch – especially under the Floodlights!
At time of press we have a good entry of the best there is in this formula booked to appear including Luke Loveland and the very experienced Peter Amas, Tim Hudson, Trevor Sloggett and Lowestoft’s David Norton who had many a success here at Foxhall in the 80’s racing Stock Rods and then 1600 Hot Rods. Damian Wright returns to the Formula from his recent Superstox outings, plus the multi – championship winning Daniel Holden is also booked in. Ray Harding has competed in Classic Hot Rods and – if they can get repaired in time, both Mark Johnson and Malcolm Foskett should also join the ranks.
The 1600 Bangers return to town for a good old ‘dust – up’ and we have another good number of Drivers booked in for this one! Another all – star line – up including local Brothers Craig and Nathan Thurlow, Lewis Canham, Jake Stewart, Alfie Cornish, current World Champion, Josh Vowden, Owen and Louis Baker, Lee Kingsnorth and Gareth Parker. Two names of special note will be local new Driver, Bradley Beaumont who makes his debut on Saturday and is Son to former Banger Star Driver for many years, Julian Beaumont and ‘The Peoples Champion’ – Peter Hanmer who is travelling up from the South with one of his stablemates for a night of racing. Peter was one of the real heroes of last years Unlimited and 1600 Banger World Finals competing in some real ‘vintage tin’ and entertaining the Fans. His enthusiasm to entertain the Fans crosses social media too with his ‘Gromit Nation’ reports and video blogs which has gained him an army of followers and friends!
This meeting is set to once again be a night not to be missed for Banger fans, as a packed track of cars under the floodlights battle each other around the tarmac doing their best to avoid the infamous Armco Safety Fence which has claimed many a victim over the stadiums illustrious history!
The event is to be run whilst following the government guidelines regarding COVID-19 and spectator attendance will be restricted.
