The Lightning Rods are similar in concept to the Stock Rods, but as you can see these are bigger! The regulations of the formula restrict the choice of car to the popular and readily available 2-litre Ford Sierra and Sapphire, which makes this class very affordable indeed.

The larger canvas available to the drivers does enable some highly detailed paint jobs.

Seeing a full field of Lightning Rods charging around the incredibly fast oval at Ipswich (Foxhall Heath) is probably the closest thing you'll see this side of the Atlantic to the big American NASCAR stock car racing!

In recent years the formula has seen large fields of cars, and with the annual Budweiser Series this formula is certainly one to watch. Series details HERE.
